Pre-treatment into Biopulp for Energy Production

Gemidan specializes in environmentally responsible processing of food and organic waste. For us, food waste is not just waste; it is a valuable resource that must be recycled and reused.
Using Gemidan’s pre-treatment technology, the Ecogi system, we transform organic waste into wet biopulp. This biopulp is primarily supplied to biogas plants, where it is first converted into energy and then utilized as fertilizer after the digestion process. In this way, Ecogi supports the principles of the circular economy.

The Gemidan Group operates pre-treatment facilities across Denmark—on Zealand, Funen, Southern Denmark, and Northern Jutland.
Gemidan’s pre-treatment technology is characterized by its high flexibility in handling nearly all types of packaging and its exceptional robustness in managing foreign objects in the waste.

Our mission is to become the market leader in pre-treatment of organic materials for biopulp production.
The quality of our biopulp is unrivaled in terms of purity and uniformity. The waste from the municipalities is certified the ISCC standard.

At our production facilities, we process both municipally collected organic waste and various types of commercial and industrial waste.
Our facility is capable of handling waste with a high content of rejects (up to approximately 20% at full capacity).

At Gemidan, we focus on strong partnerships and have agreements with several haulage companies, who collect food waste from their customers and then deliver it to our nationwide facilities for recycling.

By choosing us as your pre-treatment partner, you are opting for a solution that prioritizes sustainability, flexibility, and robustness in the handling of your residuals.
We have developed a sorting guide, which, when applicable, is provided as part of the agreement. This guide serves as a reference for the types of goods that can be processed at our facilities, where we separate packaging from organic waste.
